Frequently Asked Questions
Is the course live-streamed or recorded?
This is a self-paced course with approximately 20 hours of content. There is no set timeline for completion – you’ll have ongoing access to all of the course components including lectures, practice videos, worksheets, and more.
Is this equivalent to your in-person Level 1 training?
Yes, this is an online version of our L1 training (with a few extra content segments included), and can be applied to our LFY Certification.
Are there any requirements prior to taking this training?
This training is open to all. No previous coursework or certifications are required.
What will I learn if I take this training? Will I be able to teach right away?
This course covers the most essential aspects of sharing yoga and mindfulness with children safely and effectively, in a trauma informed manner. You’ll learn our five element methodology of connect, breathe, move, focus and relax, and how to use practices within each of these elements to cultivate self-awareness, resilience and joy in children and teens. We also cover compassionate classroom and behavior management, which is an essential part of teaching young people. This course will give you the tools you need to start teaching right away, in a variety of settings including schools, studios, and private sessions.
Is this training recognized by Yoga Alliance? Will it qualify me for the 95 hour Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) designation?
Little Flower Yoga is a registered children’s yoga school (RCYS) with Yoga Alliance, as well as a registered continuing education provider. In order for an individual teacher to register with Yoga Alliance as a registered children’s yoga teacher (RCYT), you must have completed both a 200-hour teacher training with a registered yoga school and a 95-hour training with a registered children’s yoga school. Completion of this course meets 20 hours of Yoga Alliance’s requirements towards the 95-hour children’s program. Completion of additional components (in-person or online with Little Flower Yoga) fulfill the 95-hour requirement. While you will gain useful skills and be able to apply them right away with the kids in your life after completing level 1, you will not be certified.
Can I earn Continuing Education credit?
Yes, this course qualifies for 20 hours of CE credit with Yoga Alliance.
Will I get a Certificate of Completion?
Yes. We’re happy to provide certificates to anyone who requests one.
Are you offering Level 2 and Level 3 online and when?
Yes! We are offering Level 2 and Level 3 trainings in a livestream format. Please see our events for dates and more information.
Do I have to participate in all three levels of training? Can I just take Level 1?
No. Some people register for Level 1 and find that they have the tools they need to introduce yoga to the children in their lives. Most participants do eventually participate in all three levels, but there is no timeline for completion and no requirement to take all 3 levels unless you are hoping to become certified.
Will I need to have any props or accessories to take this training?
No. You can participate fully without any props or other equipment at home. A yoga mat would be great but you really don’t even need that!
Do you offer payment plans?
Payment for this course is made directly to Yoga International, and we are not able to offer payment plans at this time.
Can I earn college credit?
Graduate level credit through our partner University of the Pacific is available for this training. This course qualifies for 1 credit, and you may earn up to 6 credits for full certification, at a rate of $62/credit payable directly to the University.
Can I earn credits toward salary advancement?
School districts have different guidelines for salary advancement and licensing requirements. The credits offered are post-baccalaureate, graded, graduate-level semester credits, provided directly through the University of the Pacific. They are specifically designed to meet the needs of Educators for Salary Advancement and Recertification, however participants are fully responsible for determining the acceptability of these courses for their intended use.
