Mindful Connections for Caregivers & Educators
All proceeds will support the yoga and mindfulness program for Sanctuary for Families, New York’s leading service provider and advocate for survivors of domestic violence, sex trafficking, and related forms of gender violence.
In this time of drastic change and uncertainty, all of us need extra support in cultivating balance, for ourselves, our families and our classes. This webinar brings together caregivers and teachers to practice mindfulness together and live into our collective concerns with curiosity, compassion and creativity. We will engage in mind-body integrating practices, including mindful movement for grounding and centering, breathing for stress regulation and relaxation techniques to restore our vital energy. An interactive dialogue will invite participants to share in community support. We will explore the stages of grief many of us are experiencing as a result of this pandemic and identify ways to help ourselves and families move through this crisis with hope and courage. Throughout this experience, participants will be invited to reflect on what is working in this stay-at-home reality, as well as identify areas of struggle where growth is possible.

We are pleased to share that Dr. Alana Burton, Restorative Justice Advisor for the Los Angeles Unified School District, will be joining Abby Wills as a special guest for this webinar.
Meet Your Trainers:
Abby Wills
Abby Wills, MA has dedicated over twenty years to integrating mindful practices for social emotional health into a wide diversity of school settings through direct service to learners and educators throughout Los Angeles and internationally. She brings her expertise in developmental education as well as extensive studies in yoga and mindfulness to her work as a teacher and writer. Abby is Co-Founder and Program Director of Shanti Generation, a digital media company specializing in mindful yoga for early adolescents. She has written, directed and produced top-selling teen programs including Yoga Skills for Youth Peacemakers. Currently, Abby leads the mindful practice program of Project Silver Lining for Barnsdall Arts, a Los Angeles based non-profit. She serves as Movement, Mindfulness + Social Emotional Development Specialist for Full Circle Consulting Systems, Inc. for whom she facilitates professional development to early childhood educators, supervisors and continuing education coaches. Abby’s approach is informed by academic studies in social justice, trauma informed interventions and non-violent communication. She holds a Masters Degree in Human Development from Pacific Oaks College. Abby is a mother to two energetic boys whose school PTA has nearly become a second job.

Dr. Alana Burton was named Systems of Support Adviser for Los Angeles Unified School District in May, 2020. With fifteen years of service to education, she is passionately committed to positively impacting the whole individual and whole community by building sustainable equity, diversity, and inclusion; advancement; and positive empowerment business culture. Dr. Burton uses her knowledge, passion, experience, and skills to form strong relationships and build capacity and external partnerships. These meaningful relationships provide access, data driven action plans, and differentiated development to remove social-emotional barriers. Her previous roles contributed to her visionary leadership: board member, union chair, leadership team member, restorative justice adviser, Gifted and Talented Coordinator, School Wide Positive Behavior Intervention and Support member, Test Administrator, educator, and educational psychology leadership graduate student. Her goal is to support the whole person, whole environment, and whole community.
