“Most of our suffering comes from resisting what is already here, particularly our feelings. All any feeling wants is to be welcomed, touched, allowed. It wants attention. It wants kindness. If you treated your feelings with as much love as you treated your dog or your cat or your child, you’d feel as if you were living in heaven every day of your sweet life.” ― Geneen Roth

Lauren Buckles, E-RYT, RCYT, is a Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher for both youth and adults. After practicing and teaching gymnastics to children for almost a decade, Lauren was initially attracted to the physical element of yoga. Now, the element of yoga that sustains her practice is the compassion and connection it has brought to her life. She completed her 200-RYT certification in 2014 and has continued to teach yoga ever since.

Lauren trained extensively with Little Flower Yoga and teaches for their program, The School Yoga Project. Lauren specializes in teaching yoga in schools in NYC, Westchester and the Hudson Valley, where she shares mindfulness based practices with children and professional development for educators and administrators. Lauren has also trained with Katonah Yoga® and has completed courses with Mindful Schools and RISE Yoga for Youth.

In her classes, Lauren hopes her students will cultivate a compassionate relationship to themselves by being curious and paying attention to their experience. Lauren teaches activities that support social-emotional learning and a compassionate connection with community. Her intention is for her students to apply the practices to their lives outside of the classroom, to increase their capacity to self-regulate, and to enhance their ability to experience joy.
