Dena Levitz
School Wellness Project
Dena Levitz is a yoga teacher, writer and events producer based in New York City. Always active and full of energy, Dena grew up competing in gymnastics, track and tennis. Yoga started as a workout that was much kinder on her body. But, as her knowledge grew, so did her appreciation for the practice’s deep roots and holistic benefits. When Dena decided to make the leap to teaching yoga and mindfulness, she received her 200-hour certification in Siem Riep, Cambodia. Since then she’s completed specialized trainings to teach yoga to kids (through Little Flower), as well as in the growing fields of trauma-informed yoga and sound healing. Her hope is to help students of all ages and backgrounds use yoga as a tool for empowerment, resilience and joy and to make it approachable to all. Her classes are dynamic, playful, anchored in classic hatha and vinyasa, while incorporating things that light her and students up. Over the past 5 years she’s taught yoga locally and internationally — in schools, studios, senior centers and even along the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage trail.
