Throughout my 9 years as a special education teacher, focusing on students with emotional disabilities, I have served in a variety of public school settings; inner city, rural, and suburban. I found that despite the group I was serving there was always a need for something more. I spent many of those years trying out different techniques, completing personal research, and eventually getting my masters degree in Psychology, hoping that a deeper understanding would further support me finding this "something more". It wasn't until I discovered Little Flower Yoga that I found the missing link. Throughout the certification process I would use what I was learning with individual students, small groups, entire classrooms, and even our entire school from time to time. The impact it made was more than I ever could have imagined. I completed my Little Flower Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training in May of 2018. My goal is to provide children with the tools to help them help themselves in a way that requires nothing more than what they already have. I believe that all children should feel validated, safe, and connected to themselves and the world around them. Yoga and mindfulness will strengthen their ability to self-regulate, manage emotions, anxiety and stress, promote a positive outlook, and find peace in their everyday lives.
