Hello! My name is Ammy, and I recently finished my coursework and mentorship with Little Flower Yoga. I am very excited to start my teaching journey with such a wonderful organization! I have a bachelor of science in elementary education from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities.
Before moving to New York, I taught in both an elementary school setting and at a day program for adults with special abilities. I was able to use my passion for teaching and movement to incorporate unique classroom experiences that included yoga and mindfulness practices. Since moving to New York I have worked as a 2nd Grade teacher in Brooklyn and volunteered with Sprout By Design bringing urban agriculture to juvenile detention centers, day programs, and schools across the five boroughs. These experiences offered me the opportunity to bring yoga and mindfulness to people of various ages and abilities.
I believe that Little Flower Yoga has given me the knowledge and confidence to continue sharing my passion with students of all ages and abilities while offering me continued support. It has become increasingly important to be able to offer children the strategies and tools they need to regulate stress, make mind and body connections, and be more compassionate and confident. It is my mission to make this available to as many children as possible!
