Teaching Towards Healing: How Yoga and Mindfulness Practices Can Support Trauma Survivors

In this lecture and discussion, Jennifer Cohen Harper will talk about the physiological and neurological effects of trauma, the relationship between trauma and behavior and how yoga and mindfulness practices can support healing and boost protective factors. She will also share some easy to implement best practices to consider, so you can maximize the chances that all of your students can thrive.
If you’re an educator, or work with youth in other ways, you may not know explicitly that your students have experienced, or are experiencing trauma. Teaching with an awareness of the impact of trauma, and in ways that maximize safety, self-awareness and agency, is a best practice for all teaching, but essential for trauma survivors.
