Frequently Asked Questions
What is a guided online training?
Our training is online, but with a TON of support, encouragement, and interaction. You won’t be left with a bunch of content and no clear plan for making it through. Our trainers guide you through the process each step of the way, and you’ll have access to office hours, discussion forums, completion tracking, and more to help you meet your goals and get the most out of your training experience.
We’ve also moved our certification courses to a new online learning community, which is super easy (and fun) to use, and where you’ll be able to maintain interaction with fellow participants during and after the certification.
How is this different from the teacher certification program you’ve been offering? Will I be learning anything new?
We’ve refreshed our content, and training includes an amazing new segment on social and emotional learning taught by field leader Meena Srinivasan, as well as new practices, sample classes and more. The move to our new online learning community also allows for more real-time discussions of the content, so we can support you as you integrate the learning into your work and your life.
What happens if I can’t make the live sessions? Are they recorded?
Yes. All livestream sessions are recorded, and can be accessed from within your learning community. Some livestreams contain group work, practice teaching, or other interactive components, and if you miss them you may need to do a make up assignment in order to get credit for the segment.
Is there a timeframe for completion of certification?
We will move through most of the certification content together as a cohort, but there are several aspects of the process, including mentorship, that are scheduled on your own time. We recommend completing all requirements within one year of starting, so that the information is fresh and you can integrate the full picture, but if you need more time with the self-paced requirements that is no problem!
Is the entire certification really online?
Yes! All the required portions of LFY Certification are completed online.
How much does certification cost? Are there any discounts?
Certification includes our core curriculum consisting of Level 1, Level 2, Level 3; three shorter courses addressing trauma, chair yoga, and neurodiversity; two integration + implementation programs that include a teaching practicum and a mentorship program. Each of these courses can be registered for individually, and the combined price is $3717. Registering for full certification as part of a cohort reduces the tuition to $3200, and we are currently offering a 30% discount as we celebrate the launch of our new learning community. Payment plans are also available.
Are there any requirements prior to taking this training?
This training is open to all. No previous coursework or certifications are required.
What will I learn if I take this training? Will I be able to teach right away?
This course covers the most essential aspects of sharing yoga and mindfulness with children safely and effectively, in a trauma informed manner. You’ll learn our five element methodology of connect, breathe, move, focus and relax, and how to use practices within each of these elements to cultivate self-awareness, resilience and joy in children and teens. We also cover compassionate classroom and behavior management, which is an essential part of teaching young people. This course will give you the tools you need to start teaching right away, in a variety of settings including schools, studios, and private sessions.
Is this training recognized by Yoga Alliance? Will it qualify me for the 95 hour Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher (RCYT) designation?
Little Flower Yoga is a registered children’s yoga school (RCYS) with Yoga Alliance, as well as a registered continuing education provider. If you would like to register with Yoga Alliance as a registered children’s yoga teacher (RCYT), you must have completed both a 200-hour teacher training with a registered yoga school and a 95-hour training with a registered children’s yoga school. Completion of this program fulfills the 95-hour requirements. Please note, you DO NOT have to be a 200 hour registered yoga teacher to attend training, and you can still receive LFY Certification regardless of your registration with Yoga Alliance.
